Type the pixel width of your image (height too, if you need both).
300 for photo prints, 150 for large format — or type any other DPI.
Inches = pixels ÷ DPI. At 300 DPI, 3000 pixels print exactly 10 inches wide.
How to convert pixels to inches
Print size in inches = pixels ÷ DPI. Computed for the three most common output densities.
| Pixels | @ 96 DPI | @ 150 DPI | @ 300 DPI |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full HD · 1920×1080 | 20.0 × 11.3 | 12.8 × 7.2 | 6.4 × 3.6 |
| 4K UHD · 3840×2160 | 40.0 × 22.5 | 25.6 × 14.4 | 12.8 × 7.2 |
| A4 portrait · 2480×3508 | 25.8 × 36.5 | 16.5 × 23.4 | 8.3 × 11.7 |
| A3 portrait · 3508×4961 | 36.5 × 51.7 | 23.4 × 33.1 | 11.7 × 19.7 |
| US Letter · 2550×3300 | 26.6 × 34.4 | 17.0 × 22.0 | 8.5 × 11.0 |
| 12 MP photo · 4000×3000 | 41.7 × 31.3 | 26.7 × 20.0 | 13.3 × 10.0 |
Divide the pixel count by the DPI: inches = pixels ÷ DPI. At 300 DPI, 3000 pixels print exactly 10 inches wide.
DPI (dots per inch) is the pixel density a printer lays down. 300 DPI is the photo-print standard; large-format posters viewed from a distance are commonly printed at 150 DPI.
Use 300 DPI for anything held in the hands — photos, brochures, art prints. 150 DPI is acceptable for posters and banners; screens only need 72–96.
A4 at 300 DPI is 2480 × 3508 pixels (8.27 × 11.69 inches).
At 300 DPI, 1920×1080 prints at 6.4 × 3.6 inches — postcard size. A full A4 photo print needs 2480 × 3508 pixels.
No. The converter only does the math in your browser. Print Resize is the tool that rebuilds the image into a file at that size.
PPI (pixels per inch) describes the image pixel density; DPI describes printer dot density. For size math the same number is used in both directions.
Take the size into Print Resize and rebuild the image for that print. The credit cost is shown before it runs.
